ALEXIS BITTAR JEWELRY AT THE PINK DUCHESS

We are so excited!!!  ALEXIS BITTAR JEWELRY has finely arrived at The Pink Duchess.

Here's a little info on the designer:
Alexis Bittar launched his eponymous jewellery collections in the early ‘90s, but the Brooklyn native’s artistic flair was evident long before then. As a child, Bittar accompanied his parents to flea markets, where they collected and sold antiques. At the tender age of 10, Bittar showed his entrepreneurial spirit by selling flowers from a hand-painted cart across the street from his house. He moved to the East Village in the early 1980s, where he sold vintage jewellery and clothing.

Fuelled by his passion for antiques, including Art Deco Bakelite and turn-of-the-century Lalique glass, Bittar began designing Lucite jewellery and selling it on the streets of Soho. The Lucite collection combines Bittar’s love of form, texture, colour and light. Each piece is handcrafted and hand-painted by skilled artisans, all of whom work out of the designer’s DUMBO, Brooklyn-based studio. From necklaces, bracelets and earrings to pins and most recently, home décor goods, Bittar’s Lucite creations are a marriage between bold design and high style.

Today, Alexis Bittar jewellery is sold at department stores and independent boutiques worldwide, and is regularly featured in premier publications such as W, Harper’s Bazaar, Elle, The New York Times, Vogue d’Italia and French Vogue. Bittar’s pieces are coveted by a discerning clientele, including Madonna, Karl Lagerfeld, Cameron Diaz, Naomi Watts and Eva Longoria. The jeweller won the Accessories Council’s 'Rising Star' award in 2004 and became a member of the Council of Fashion Designers of America in 2005.  His work has also been worn by the ladies on The View and Lipstick Jungle.

Alexis uses gold vermeil as his base.  What is "Gold Vermeil (pronounced "vermay")?  It is sterling silver coated or dipped with gold.  The pieces featured at The Pink Duchess are 18k gold vermeil with semi precious stones.
